1:23 AM: We literally laid in someone’s backyard for what seemed like an eternity while tanks rolled down the streets #Ferguson

1:26 AM: I’m live tweeting because there’s a media blackout. #Ferguson

1:33 AM: I’m so shaken. They’re literally just rolling around throwing tear gas into neighborhoods-not aggressive crowds. #Ferguson

1:34 AM: I was pouring milk over one guys eyes when they came back around and threw another at us. #Ferguson

1:51 AM: Let me repeat, THEY ARE GASSING NEIGHBORHOODS not crowds of protestors. There was only a few of us walking. there is no curfew, so why?]

i think it’s important that myself and other white ppl remember that we can not even begin to truly understand the pain and trauma of what is happening in ferguson, nor can we grasp the anger and sadness black communities experience due to this situation. all we can do is stand in solidarity, listen, and not derail or take the focus away from the true face of racism and white supremacy.

I heard this on the radio. Mike Brown was a kid who didn’t want to play football, even though he had the body for it. When asked why, he told his friends that he didn’t want to hit anybody.

This is the child that they’re going to paint as a thug.

me: republicans and democrats are both useless
dad: yeah, right on
me: both parties are ineffective, minor factional splits within the same general ideology, and their representatives are completely out of touch with the average person's reality
dad: yeah, I guess
me: the only thing that can save us now is absolute revolution
dad: wait what
me: we start by dismantling white supremacy and patriarchal hierarchies, adopting the practice of decolonization, while simultaneously retiring capitalism and private property, and redistributing all wealth and resources
dad: no stop-

‘Overkill’: Images from Ferguson protest show cops treating city like a war zone

As demonstrations in Ferguson, Missouri enter their fourth night, pictures and online posts from the scene show an escalation in response from St. Louis County police.

Despite police insisting, “Your right to demonstrate is not being obstructed,” they have brought at least 70 SWAT team officers and one tank to stand opposite the protesters in the street. The Huffington Post reported that state Sen. Maria Chapelle Nadal (D), who criticized the police response in an MSNBC interview on Tuesday night, was taken into custody.

Calling the Ferguson Police Dept. and requesting information about Antonio French’s release

After posting this video, I discovered new information that states his arrest and release are public record and according to the Missouri Revised Statutes, Chapter 610 “Governmental Bodies and Records, Section 610.200, information about whether his arrest involved a crime or infraction is supposed to be available to the public for copying and inspection. So I called a second time. A different operator answered and I asked, “I would like to request information about Antonio French’s arrest and release.” He told me Antonio French is on a 24 hour hold. I asked if his arrest involved a crime or infraction and the operator told me that he couldn’t give that information over the phone. When I asked why, he said it was “policy.” I asked him to read me the policy and he refused to because “it wasn’t in front of him and he’s not going to look for it.” I told him that according to the statutes, that information must be made available to the public. He told me, “Okay, you went to law school. You know how to read. That’s great, but I’m not releasing that information to you. Do you have any more questions?”

"Yes. Will you please read me the policy that states you can’t release information regarding his arrest over the phone?"

"No. Any more questions?"

"Yes. What is your name?" He hung up.
